We have so much for which to be grateful! The choicest blessings of course are the associations we have with each of you. Even though our paths do not cross too often, we express our love and thanks for the blessing you are in our life. Here is a brief 2011 update on the Crockett family.

Kristin, Greg and Madi added a precious new little girl to their family April 15th. Tax day was never so sweet! Sofia Noelle was born with tons of dark curly hair and a smile that melts your heart.

She loves to giggle and play with her big sister. Beautiful and intelligent 5 year-old Madi started preschool this year, loves taking dance lessons, playing with her cousins and joins her mom dad and baby sister in the Spanish branch singing all the primary songs in both English and Spanish. Kristin is a counselor in the Primary Presidency and Greg serves in the Young Men’s Presidency. They live in Boise but visit Salt Lake often so Grammy and Papa can see those adorable grandchildren.

Denny is officially the BEST uncle in the whole world ... or so say his nieces and nephew who absolutely adore this guy.

He has spent another year coaching football at Brighton high where they had a very successful season making it into the state 5A playoffs .

He lives in Lehi which allows us to see him quite often. His big black lab "Jack" is Teri’s on-call body guard whenever her hubby is away on business .

Denny had some rotator cuff surgery this fall (old football injuries) and is presently in rehab making good progress. He serves in his ward as a teacher’s quorum advisor and totally loves working with the young men. He’s excited about a new business venture which will launch early in 2012.

Camee, Matt, Ty Ty and Kaylee are excited to announce the birth of a new little baby brother who will join the family toward the end of March 2012.

We can’t wait! Adventurous Ty turned 5 early in December. His days are filled with soccer, singing, preschool, cars and fun. This kid is ALL boy!! Adorable Kaylee (age 2) loves to do everything her big brother does plus a few extra all girl things. Besides taking dance, Kaylee captivates audiences with her cute low alto voice singing many songs including the ever popular "My Address Song" , complete with her current residence location and ZIP code. Not bad for a two-year-old! In addition to her

never ending mom duties , Camee serves in the Young Women's Presidency of the Spanish branch. Matt is a counselor in the branch presidency and continues to grow his business with brothers Greg and Scott. Their beautiful home in Boise is just 3 minutes away from the newly announced Meridian Idaho Temple.

If you’ve been watching TV the past few months you’ll know that McKay has had quite a year! He spent much of this summer / fall in Los Angeles appearing with BYU's a cappella group Vocal Point on NBC's "The Sing Off". Sixteen groups were chosen from hundreds who auditioned around the United States to participate in this national competition. Vocal Point week after week continued to win the hearts of viewers throughout the country with their exciting performances.

They finished the competition in the TOP 5 but came in first in the hearts of many. We were able to go down to LA to watch a few of the tapings, the most recent being the Christmas special where McKay appeared not only in the Vocal Point number with the show’s host, but also performed with two of the celebrity judges in a number. A special "Sing Off: Songs of the Season" Holiday CD was released in November with Vocal Point singing McKay’s beautiful arrangement of the song "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly". Check it out on iTunes. McKay is a music media major and will graduate from BYU (and Vocal Point) in April.

In April our youngest darling Cortnee became

Cortnee Furness marrying her high school sweetheart Todd who returned last year from his very successful LDS mission in Hartford, Connecticut. Their April 29th date in the Salt Lake Temple was shared with another famous couple. Yes, that was the same day the Royal wedding of Prince William and Lady Kate took place.

But as Cort and Todd put it , "the real royal wedding took place not in London but right here in Salt Lake City." We agree! They live in the married student housing apartments adjacent to the University of Utah where Cort continues her studies as an Elementary Education major and Todd is a business major at LDS Business College. Their ward calling has them serving in a very special assignment to the Primary Children’s Hospital.

Teri and Den (a.k.a. Mom and Dad, Grammy and Papa) are loving this season of life with wonderful children and grandchildren –(being a grandma and grandpa is the best)! Every day that we have to spend with family and friends is such a blessing. In addition to Grammy duties, Teri stays busy as the wife of a singles Ward Bishop and singing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Her mother gave us all a real scare this summer with a serious health condition but thankfully she's doing much better now. Den is in his third year serving as a YSA Bishop and truly loves the association with the young single adults. He continues to stay involved with a few business ventures which, when combined with family and bishop duties, tends to keeps his schedule quite full.

As we come to the end of 2011 and usher in another new year we send our love and warm wishes. We pray that 2012 will--for each of you--be filled with happiness, hope, health and increased faith in Him who is the giver of all lasting peace and prosperity.

Love,

The Crockett’s

December 2012

Christmas 2011

Dear Elders and Sisters,

Merry Christmas! We send our love and greetings on this sacred day to each of you. It is difficult to celebrate Christmas without reflecting on the magnificent experiences we shared together as missionaries in Texas. Thank you for the many cards, letters and calls we have received this holiday season. You will never know how much we love that. We are putting the finishing touches on our 2011 family letter reviewing the events in the Crockett family this past year and will post it it here on the blog sometime next week. But we could not let this special day pass without expressing to you our love and wishes for a blessed holiday season. May the hope of Him whose birth we celebrate this day fill your hearts with confidence and love. May this Christmas be a time of forgetting self and finding time for others, just as you did so marvelously in the mission field.. Let it be a time for discarding the meaningless and for stressing eternal values. Let it be a time of peace because we have found peace in His teachings. May we each pause today and feel His presence in our lives. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: . . .and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace"(Isaiah 9: 6). We testify that He lives!

With our deep love,

President and Sister Crockett

December 25, 2011

Note about October 2011

Dear Elders and Sisters--

After hearing from many of you over the past few months we have decided to hold our Mission Reunion once each year in April. We treasure those Texas Christmases shared together while in the service of the Savior. Thank you for your thoughts and expressions ---this Season and throughout the past year. Please excuse us for not responding individually. Nevertheless, we hope you feel a measure of our sincere and individual love for each one.

Here is a link to our family Christmas letter along with a few pictures. We hope you know just how we dearly love you all. We share our witness that the Babe---who's birth we celebrate--- IS the Savior of the World. And may your testimony of Him burn deep within throughout the New Year.

Love,

President and Sister Crockett

2009 October Mission Reunion

Howdy ya'll, another mission reunion is just around the corner! We constantly reflect on our days together in Texas. Especially at this special time of year, we feel so blessed to have shared that sacred service with each of you.

A special thanks to all who have written, called or dropped by with your love and Holiday greetings. Please excuse us as we respond to you all in a more public way. Below you will find our family’s Christmas letter with a few pictures and commentary on 2008. We hope you will enjoy.

Elder Bednar recently said that this time of year people often ask, “Are you ready for Christmas?’ He added, “I don’t think the question is, ‘Are you ready for Christmas?’ The question is, “Are you and I ready for Christ?”

It is our testimony that we WILL be ready for Christmas by becoming faithfully and completely ready for Christ! Remember…Faith, Obedience, Diligence . Those lessons learned in the mission field will help you stay on course. May we seek Him so that He will forever be the center of our lives ----not only at Christmastime, but each and every day of the year.

May the Lord bless you with a magnificent 2009!

We Love You!

President and Sister Crockett

Dear Family and Friends,

Once again we extend our love and holiday greetings to you all. 2008 has been a most eventful year for the Crockett’s. Here are a few highlights:

Kristin, Greg & Madi packed up and headed north to Boise! Though they miss family and friends back in Utah they LOVE their new home (and Madi loves that she is only 5 minutes away from her cousin Ty Ty). Their beautiful, vibrant Madi will be 2 in January and is definitely in charge. She is talking up a storm and has a great love for music and singing…sometimes even right in tune! She is adored by her parents who love every second with her. In addition to Greg’s work with APX Security Systems, Madi’s mom and dad are getting ready to launch some fun , new business ventures and are excited for 2009 and beyond. They are SO very happy and most of all grateful for the Lord and His many blessings this Christmas season.

Denny has a beautiful home in the Lehi /Alpine area with his newest addition—a playful, black lab named “Jack”. Wow, what a handful! Denny remains active in his singles ward where he has served as Elders Quorum President for just under 3 years. He has now been called as the Gospel Doctrine teacher. He spent another season coaching Varsity and JV football at Brighton High. He continues to help manage eMegaplex and also enjoying growing success as an investor. At the Crockett family reunion this summer, his Uncle Chuck suggested that a “nickname change” was in order. Instead of “little Denny” (with his dad being “BIG Denny”) , he now will be known as “Denny the Younger”! ( So, does that make his dad Denny the Older?”)

Camee, Matt and little Ty are still in Boise are excited to welcome a new little sister to the family. (She’s due to arrive near her Uncle McKay’s birthday, Feb 7). Ty just turned 2 earlier this month and is the cutest!! He loves cars and his cousin Madi! He is always on the go and can brighten anyone’s day with his adorable smile. Matt is going to school at Boise State and will be managing with APX Security Systems again this summer. Although Camee ran the field office for APX last year, this summer with 2 kids on her hip instead of just one, she’s excited to just be a Mom. They have recently been called to serve in the Spanish Branch of their Stake, Matt in the Elders Quorum Presidency and Camee in the Young Women’s Presidency. ( Camee’s Spanish carries a fun, little Japanese twang).

McKay returned in January from a very successful mission in Chile. Mom and Dad were blessed to travel to Vina Del Mar, where they met him and spent a few days meeting his Mission President and wife along with many of the wonderful Chilean people Elder Crockett grew to love. We also did a little missionary work before returning to the states. Muy Bueno! He is now continuing his education at BYU as a Music Media major. He is also a member of the popular BYU a cappella performing group “ Vocal Point.” It’s great to see McKay back on stage again! He also found time to return to Brighton and choreograph the musical “Grease” for his old high school alma mater. Last summer McKay enjoyed a very successful sales season working with APX Security Systems. This year he will return as an assistant manager working along side Matt and Greg. This boy sure knows how to keep busy!!

Can you believe that Cortnee graduated from High School in June and is now a freshman in college!?! Our baby now attends UVU in Provo, living in the same apartment complex and attending the same student ward as McKay. She is majoring in elementary education. Her love of soccer continues as she played on not one, but TWO intra-mural soccer teams this fall. She has many special friends that have left recently on their missions ( one in particular) which keeps her busy writing letters. After 3 years in Texas as a missionary, she is now getting to know the “other side” of mission life. Speaking of Texas, she keeps in constant touch with her wonderful Texas BFFL (… best friends for life… for those of you who don’t speak text). We love our Cort!!

Teri and Den ( aka Mom and Dad, Grammy and Grandpa) are still adjusting to after-mission life but slowly seem to be gaining on it. Den is getting back to the workplace while Teri is enthusiastically polishing her grand-parenting skills! We have loved spending time with our children, whether it be going on tour with the HS Choir, attending soccer games, Vocal Point performances, watching a certain coach on the sidelines or just those Sunday dinner get -togethers. What joy there is in family. We have also enjoyed EVERY second of being Grandparents! What a sweet blessing it is to watch our children ---and THEIR children--- grow and develop. We have loved serving together this year in several wonderful Church callings ; teaching the stake Senior Missionary Preparation class ; a General Church assignment of coordinating the visiting choirs that perform in each General Conference ( April and October); and, most recently we have been called as the Chairmen for the upcoming Temple Dedication Celebration that will coincide with the dedication of the new Draper and Oquirrh Temples in 2009. This “youth event” is similar to those cultural evenings that have been associated with temple dedications worldwide. This will be the first such Celebration to be held in the Salt Lake Valley. We are working on this project with some of the most talented, dedicated and inspiring people. We expect it to be powerful and inspirational event for the nearly 15,000 youth and their families that live in these 2 Temple districts. Keep us in your prayers. We will need it!

We want to convey to you our love and sincere wishes for a blessed Christmas . May this Season be filled with the peace and joy of loved ones near. And may your New Year be happy, healthy and prosperous. Most of all we send to you our witness that the Babe of Bethlehem IS the Savior of the World. And that He is THE source of all that is good.

Love,
The Crockett’s
Dennis, Teri, McKay , Cortnee , Kristin, Greg & Madi,
Camee, Matt & Ty ( and ??), Denny the Younger!

Christmas 2008

Message from President Crockett

Dear Elders and Sisters,

What a delight it was to see so many of you at our last reunion. We look forward to many more gatherings in the coming months/years. We will post some pictures and additional information in the next few weeks...so please drop by occasionally to get a fresh update.

In light of recent press relating to issues like the recent California vote, I thought you would find the following excerpt from a talk given by Elder Neal A. Maxwell in 1979 very profound. This is why we call these men prophets. Listen and follow the Brethren!

Our love to you all,

President and Sister Crockett

Subject: Elder Maxwell Quote

Neal A. Maxwell, “A More Determined Discipleship,” Ensign, Feb 1979, 69–73

Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions. (See 1 Kgs. 18:21 <http://scriptures.lds.org/1_kgs/18/21#21> .)

President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had “never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1941, p. 123). This is a hard doctrine, but it is a particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked. In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ! It's up to each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency.

Your discipleship may see the time when such religious convictions are discounted. M. J. Sobran also said, “A religious conviction is now a second-class conviction, expected to step deferentially to the back of the secular bus, and not to get uppity about it” (Human Life Review, Summer 1978, pp. 58–59). This new irreligious imperialism seeks to disallow certain opinions simply because those opinions grow out of religious convictions. Resistance to abortion will be seen as primitive. Concern over the institution of the family will be viewed as untrendy and unenlightened.

Before the ultimate victory of the forces of righteousness, some skirmishes will be lost. Even in these, however, let us leave a record so that the choices are clear, letting others do as they will in the face of prophetic counsel.
There will also be times, happily, when a minor defeat seems probable, but others will step forward, having been rallied to rightness by what we do. We will know the joy, on occasion, of having awakened a slumbering majority of the decent people of all races and creeds which was, till then, unconscious of itself.

Jesus said that when the fig trees put forth their leaves, “summer is nigh” (Matt. 24:32 <http://scriptures.lds.org/matt/24/32#32> ). Thus warned that summer is upon us, let us not then complain of the heat!

http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=1846d0640b96b010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____&hideNav=1

2008 Fall Mission Reunion!

Howdy ya'll, another mission reunion is just around the corner! General Conference will be on October 4th and 5th, which means we'll be having a temple session on the 2nd and a reunion on the 3rd.

As with times past, we need YOUR help in getting the word out. Simply point your mission friends to this website. Call, text, e-mail, Facebook (or any social networking), snail mail, any way that you can! Please especially focus on those who have returned home more recently. Do not assume that anyone already knows! Besides, its a great chance to catch up with people!

Details are as follows:

Thursday night: Temple Session
We'll meet again for a temple session @ 6:15 PM (dressed and ready) in the Jordan River temple chapel. You don't need to RSVP but we would love to see you there!

Friday night: Reunion
Friday night will be a "Munch and Mingle" that will commence at 7 PM with a short devotional at 8 PM. Blue Bell and goodies will abound. The October reunion will be at the chapel near the Crockett's home, 2675 E. Mount Jordan Road, Sandy Utah 84092. Map link is here.
Attire is: dressy casual. This means you're probably over dressed with a tux and under dressed with shorts/flipflops.

RSVP by posting a comment on the blog. Just let us know your name (and maiden nume?) and how many people will be attending. Do not feel that if you don't RSVP that you cannot come, we just need to make sure we have enough goodies (and there will ALWYAS be enough Bluebell!)

We will continue this alternating "Fall @ the chapel, Spring @ the Crockett's home" rotation until further notice.

If you have any questions, you can call either David Lenz or the Crockett's directly:

David Lenz: david@davidlenz.com 360-904-3396

Crocketts: dlcrock@aol.com
Home: 801.943.1182
NEW CELL #'s
Pres- 801.913.6310 ( effective now)
Sister C.- 801.512.9891 ( after Sept 10)

A Mission Gathering is Coming Up!

In April we will be having a missionary gathering. The full out reunions will be held in October, but every April we will still have a small gathering at the Crockett's home. Here are details:

April 3rd: On Thursday before Conference we will have a temple session at the Jordan River Temple. The session starts at 6:40 so please be ready in the chapel by 6:20 pm.

April 4th: Friday night there will be a gathering at the Crockett's home: 2862 E 9800th S, Sandy, UT 84092 starting at 7 pm. It will just be a casual munch and mingle. You don't need to dress up but do try to look nice.

Please help spread the word and invite anyone you're in touch with. Carpooling is also encouraged (and smart considering gas prices).

RSVP via commenting on the blog. Be sure to put your name in the body of the comment. President and Sister Crockett were really thrilled to see so many people there. We easily had over 100 missionaries and probably close to 200 people total.

I was able to get the phone numbers and e-mail addresses of 79 missionaries. If you didn't sign the guest book or put your information on the laptop, please leave your name, phone number and e-mail address as a comment on this blog or send it to me directly, david@davidlenz.com.

As a reminder, every Thursday immediately preceding General Conference (both in April and in October) there will be a special temple session with the Crocketts at the Jordan River Temple at 7:00 pm. There will be an e-mail reminder sent a few weeks before conference.

I put all of the pictures that Sister Crockett took into an online gallery. If you have any pictures you would like me to add, just send them to david@davidlenz.com.

Click here to go to the gallery.

Thank you to all those who came, those who helped spead the word, and who helped set up and clean up.
